Starting swimming lessons is such an exciting milestone! šŸ’§ To help make your child’s first experience as smooth and positive as possible, here are our top 5 tips:

1.Ā

Arrive Early and Stay Calm

Arrive about 10–15 minutes beforeĀ your first swimming lesson. This gives your child plenty of time to get changed and settle in without feeling rushed. A relaxed start leads to a relaxed swim!

2.Ā

Come Dressed for Success

Make sure your child wears a proper swimming costumeĀ (one-piece suit or trunks above the knee) and well-fitted goggles. A towel and a spare set of dry clothes are always handy too!

3.Ā

Keep Encouragement Simple

It’s natural to feel excited, but during the lesson, it’s best to watch, smile, and cheer quietly. Loud shouting or waving can distract your swimmer when they need to focus on the teacher’s instructions.

4.Ā

Be Patient and Positive

Every child is different. Some might jump right in, while others take time to feel confident. Praise every effort — even putting their face in the water is a big step!

5.Ā

Ask Questions (at the Right Time)

Our coordinators are always available to help with any questions you have — just avoid interrupting the teachers during lessons. Feel free to chat to us before or after sessions!

šŸ’™ Swimming is a journey, not a race. With the right support and a little patience, your child will soon be making a splash with confidence!
