🏊‍♀️ Your First Swimzone Swimming Lesson @ Castle Vale Pool – What to Expect!

We are so excited to welcome you and your swimmer to Swimzone @ Castle Vale Pool! 💧 Whether it’s your child’s first swimming lesson ever or a new start with us, we want you to feel fully prepared and excited for this next step in their swimming journey.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of your first session:

📅 Your First Swimming Lesson: Arrival Information

• Please arrive 10 minutes before your session time to give plenty of time for getting changed.

• If you are attending the 10:30am session, please note that another school finishes just before us — we kindly ask you not to enter the spectators area until they have finished.

• When you arrive, enter through the main entrance of the building — the changing rooms are located straight ahead, and the pool is easily signposted.

• Showers are now working, so feel free to use these after the lesson!

👨‍👩‍👧 Parent Guidelines

• After changing, please wait in the spectators area until a member of our team invites your swimmer onto poolside.

• Parents are welcome to watch from either end of the pool or remain seated in the spectators area.

• Please watch, smile, and clap to encourage your swimmer — but try not to distract them during the session so they can stay focused on their teachers’ instructions.

• At the end of the session, swimmers will exit poolside through the shower area to allow the next group to smoothly enter from the spectators area.

👙 What Your Swimmer Needs

• A swimming costume (one-piece for girls — no bikinis) or trunks (shorter, above-the-knee style for boys)

• Goggles (not necessary but recommended)

• A towel, and any personal shower items if you wish to use the showers after the lesson

🏆 What to Expect From the Session

• Our first priority is to get to know your child and make sure they feel safe and happy in the water.

• We’ll introduce them to a few simple poolside rules that will help sessions run smoothly.

• Through fun and engaging activities, we’ll start building their water confidence right from day one.

• Towards the end of each term, we will assess your child for their Swim England Stage Award.

• Distance Awards (e.g., 5m, 10m, 25m) will be assessed throughout the year too

• Certificates and badges are available to purchase from the coordinator during the sessions if your swimmer achieves an award!

We kindly ask that you do not approach teachers directly during lessons or at changeover times, so that we can keep lessons running smoothly and safely for all swimmers.
